Declaration

We have designed this site to be completely accessible and usable, working in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG v1.0).

We have undertaken to use our knowledge and understanding of the ways in which different people access the Internet, to develop a web site that is clear and simple for everybody to use.

We have also chosen not to use tables to provide page layout. In order to provide a more flexible experience for our visitors, we have chosen to use CSS for layout.

Validation

We have used XHTML 1.0 and CSS that conforms to specification, as laid out by the W3C because we believe that usability and accessibility must have a solid foundation.

We have also endeavoured to achieve AAA accessibility as measured against version 1.0 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We are aware however, that a number of the Priority 3 checkpoints of the WCAG are subjective and although we are sure that we have met them squarely, there may be instances where interpretation may vary.

Access Keys

We have deliberately chosen not to use access keys on this site. We feel that keyboard shortcut keys place an unnecessary burden on the memory of the user and that they ultimately replicate functionality already possessed by screen reader technologies.
We are aware that Checkpoint 9.5 of the WCAG v1.0 relates to the use of access keys, but in light of the reasons outlined above we have chosen to look towards the upcoming WCAG v2.0, where the implementation of access keys is not a featured checkpoint.

Feedback

We have strived to present a web site that harnesses technology, usability and accessibility, but we are equally aware that true success in this field can only be maintained through a process of interaction with our visitors and continuing development. If you have found any difficulty in using this site, or have identified an error, please contact us by emailing our webmaster.
